Equipment:
Newspaper,
Lamb heart,
Scalpel,
Scissors,
Tweezers
Method:
- Spread out newspaper
- Identify the atriums
- Stick your finger through the pulmonary artery to the right ventricle
- Stick your your finger through the aorta into the left ventricle
- Photograph the heart
- Cut open both sides of the heart so you can see the left and right atrium, and left and right ventricles
- Take more photos of the dissected heart
Parts Identified:
Right and left atrium
Pulmonary artery
Right and left ventricle
Thick and thin wall
Results:
As we dissected it, we got to feel it. It was cold and slimy, and soft and patterned. It smelt like rotten human which was enough to make two students vomit. We found all the parts listed above. The left side had thicker walls due to lack of oxygen and more pressure.
